laid-back town of Noxon is located along the Clark Fork River in a heavily
treed, mountain area of the Kootenai National Forest. Although a natural
resources community in it's beginning, the Noxon area is respected for its
hunting, fishing, hiking and huckleberry habitat. The area is sparse in
population with a generous snowfall and unmatched beauty of scenery. The Noxon Rapids Dam backs up the Clark Fork River creating the 30+- mile man-made lake of sorts, the Noxon Rapids Reservoir. The boating and fishing are fabulous with awe-inspiring scenery that is breathtaking. The Cabinet Gorge Reservoir is next in the chain of reservoirs with the Cabinet Gorge Dam as it's portage to boater. Idaho's Lake Pend'Oreille is lies one reservoir downstream and is one of the largest volume and most scenic in the northwest. |
